I would like to offer for sale my 1940 Colt M1911A1. This is an original firearm. The numbers match on stamped internal parts. I have had the recoil and hammer springs replaced so it is more reliable to shoot, but I still have the originals which will be included with the sale.
There were 4,696 M1911A1’s manufactured by Colt in 1940. It is my understanding these were sent to the Navy as this was prior to our involvement.
I brought it to Nelson Ford several years ago. He was impressed with the condition and said it was as original an example as he had seen in years. The 1940 Colts were one of the last years that were blued before they switched to parkerized finishes on these. The only possible issue is the magazine may not be WW2 vintage. I am not certain. Also included is the holster that came with it when I purchased it.
I regularly shoot this pistol. It is not a safe queen. The patina and originality of this are outstanding. This is one that you can keep in the family for generations. Circumstances as they are, I need to make some room in the safe and free up some capital.
The price is $2000 firm; no trades at this time.
