That's a bit of a narrow minded opinion that anything less than that price point can't be appreciated. There's lots of affordable guns that are good for learning the basics on, or keeping in the night stand for personal protection. This isn't a hobby to everyone. That kinda attitude scares novice shooters away.

There won't be much available at the OP's price that is worth a damn.

A year or two ago, maybe, but $200 probably wouldn't buy a Hi Point today, just sayin'.

Narrow minded opinion? Quite the contrary, I own 50 or so firearms, 30 or so of which are pistols. Perhaps you can enlighten the original poster on what good $200 pistols are available — certainly don’t know of any.

A G2 sold on this forum in the last 10 days for $200.

They sell for 250-300 new. I can't speak to their longevity but I've shot a g3 and it seemed fine. Not something smith or springfield makes, but for the price it works. Don't be a gun snob.

wish I saw that listing, I would have bought it....hell, I would buy 10 at that price....but lately deals like that are few and far between.

I hope the OP finds what he is looking for, it wasn't much of an introductory post...his first, but so be it.

Not a gun snob... I believe in waiting/saving just a bit more to get a good, quality and proven firearm. My advice to the OP will save him money in the long term... again, not a gun snob.. just speaking from experience.

That's true for the more experienced shooter and owner. Not everyone has been around them for years or their whole life. I'd hate to have gone through my learning pains on something I had a lot into. Nothing wrong with the novice buying an economy model to learn on.
