I'm curious...

First, keep this thread friendly. I'll tolerate the occasional comment about how stupid the prices are and stuff like that. DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL!!

Second, just because you see what people are paying on this thread doesn't mean you'll get that price on Arizona Guns - Buy/Sell/Trade.

What are you seeing people out there paying for ammunition?

For instance: I met a gentleman who paid $125 for 100 rounds of what I assumed was factory 5.56 a couple weeks ago.
No, he's not a sucker. He's a regular consumer who probably shoots a couple mags up at the range every now and then.

Heres an update from a recent Kansas city gun show. He covers much, but claims an abundant inventory of 5.56 starting at about $.80/rnd for bulk target. Much more for boxes of 20. He said .45 and 9mm was in very short supply and high priced. He said the dealers indicated that supply was extremely hard to come by and that it may be about a year and a half or more before it ends. I might be wrong, but I think Kansas City enjoys lower prices and costs than much of the country...

The mail order outfits I have dealt with in the past have been out of 9mm for many months. The big box retail stores as well. I haven't looked for 5.56 for a while...

I work at a LGS and we RARELY get any ammo shipments, if any at all. On the rare case of it coming in its like 500 rnds total! The limited ammo we do have is allocated for gun purchases. One of our reps heard that a large ammo manufacturer is backordered over a billion dollars of ammo and that Manufacturer has no idea when they will be able to fulfill that obligation. I know of some shops selling 5.56 for $20 a box of 20, 9mm for $40 a box of 50! Prices are through the roof and no end insight!!

I also reload and I was at Dillon over the weekend and one of the managers told us that they are backordered on primers til 2023!!

We also have to worry about Biden could possibly do once he is in office!! If we have another round of panic buying and any kind of tax on ammo and firearms, it will be way past 2023 before we would see ammo on the shelves! Alot of people have already forgot about 2012-15 and how hard it was to find ammo!

Supply and demand is in full effect. If you weren't prepared, you gotta pay.

I like this chart a lot, it brings some data/facts in to plain sight. It would be great if guys would stop over paying all together, especially to the people just flipping the Ammo for 2x or 3x the cost on forums like this.

9M can be had for $.50. No need to continue being gouged by opportunists.

LGS's have PMC 115gr 9mm now down to 41-42 cpr, per 50-round box. Nice little change for the better, and a continuing trend.

Little update:

Seeing more inventory, and a little more price adjustments on factory new brass cased (BB, PMC, Magtech, S&B).
Locally, 9mm target around 37-38 cpr, .45ACP target around 55-58 cpr.
Online, even less, but shipping still needs to be factored in.

Even Wallyworld is getting in quite a bit of Federal and Winchester 12GA target/birdshot at less that $6.50/box and under $25/sleeve.
