I've got 3 boxes of Fury 180gr .357 Spire Point bullets headed my way that I intend to load to ~1100fps in a rifle. I'm guessing that I may need to use 38spl cases for the longest ones to keep the OAL down. Anyone tried this?

My main goal is to find a subsonic load that I can shoot out of a rifle that's stable enough through a silencer and accurate enough to be worth shooting. My 38spl 158gr loads use power pistol, but I have plenty of 2400 and H110 if I want to turn it up a notch. Plenty of 38 spl suppressed through that rifle, but always the typical 158 FP.

Also, this is a 77/357, so no lever action pointy bullet problems for me (other than oal). Stability calculators suggest bullets are plenty stable at those speeds for a can, so hopefully no issues there either.

As a follow-up to this, I've done testing with Fury 180gr Spire Point bullets, in Short, Medium, and Long configurations.

I used many-times-fired Winchester 38spl cases and a WSPM primer. All of my loads were loaded to 1.625 which is long 357 magnum territory. The longer bullets definitely had some of the ogive inside the case, so they looked pretty strange, but the short bullets looked "normal".

I tried H110, 2400, Power Pistol and 700-X powder. Most of my initial loads were supersonic, but I ended up eventually getting subs loaded that were stable and accurate with all but Power Pistol (they were stable, but supersonic). The most accurate load was 700-X which was also about half the powder charge (and coincidentally also the quietest), which isn't too surprising. No baffle strikes when fired out of a can, and repeatable POI shifts were seen as well.
