View Full Version : Can't change title - how?

When the site first went up I was able to change the title of my thread (in Private Sales) to **SOLD** once I sold a gun. However, it appears the platform change took this away as I can't seem to change my thread title to **SOLD** on new threads. I can edit them, and if I choose Advanced it looks like I can edit the title, but the updated title never changes and my ad still lists like it's for sale. Am I missing something? Appreciate any help or direction......
Thanks.....Mike

Curious about that as well.

Also, because I can't edit the title I can't lower the price in the title. Since the forum rules require that I include a price in the title I can't ever change the price. Not really helpful. Love to get a response on solving this problem as I have 2 threads that no longer reflect my asking price. Thanks...
I missed this post, sorry. When you click on EDIT POST a "quick edit" box will come up. Under it there is a GO ADVANCED button. Click on it and you can edit the title from there.

Just did that very thing. Didn't change the title to my WTT post.
Just did that very thing. Didn't change the title to my WTT post. What is the link to the post and what edit do you need to make exactly? I'll go in and look at it. It should let you do it, maybe there is a glitch or something? Either way I'll look and get whatever fixed.

Hey John, thanks for responding but advanced only changes the individual posts title, it doesn't change the title that the forum displays to users when they look at the forum. You can check any of my posts, here's an example:
http://www.azgunbuy.com/private-party-firearm-sales/641-kahr-p9-9mm-night-sights-2-mags-550-a.html
I originally priced this ad at $550 and edited the ad later to lower the price (twice). You can't change the title unless you click Advanced, but even when you do, it doesn't change the title the forum actually displays. However, if you open the individual ad (post) the specific post shows the updated price. That's great, except the title displayed in the forum listing never gets updated to reflect the lower price (or allow us to change the ad to ***SOLD***). Accordingly, when people browse the forum they see the higher price, not the adjusted price. I believe the forum software is caching the initial title and is not able/configured to update the titles if and when they change.
If if you can fix this, that would be awesome. If not, I'd ask you to delete the 3 unsold ads I have in Private Sales so I can update them without a price in the title. You might also consider changing the rules so that a price is not a Title requirement. Thanks for looking into this.

I'm able to change a threads title exactly that way, so it might just be a permission issue (there are about 853million options in the software, I may have missed something when I set it up). I'll play with it a bit and see what I can do because you should be able to edit it. I should have asked this before, are you using the site on a browser or are you doing it through Tapatalk?

I'll post a poll tonight or tomorrow about it and gather the opinions of all the members. Whatever the majority wants regarding price in the title or not is what we will go with. If it gets voted to not have prices in the titles then I will change the rules accordingly.
I haven't forgotten about it. Still working on it.

No worries, I just appreciate you taking the time to look into it! As for my "rules change" comment, I only meant that if the forum software can't be made to reflect title changes it might make sense; and just a suggestion. Thanks again!

Oh, missed you question earlier - Browser only, tested in both Chrome and IE/Edge, neither produce the updated title in the forum listing
I'm still working on this. Other users are able to change so I'm not sure what is going on. This is an issue I haven't come across before so its taking some time to track it down.

I have this same issue. I am able to change the title but I need to change the thread title. I think these are different things. Thanks.

I also cannot change the title. I screwed up when I posted it and tried to edit in advanced to "include the price" but it will not allow me to change the 'thread' title (vs post title)... Remington R-25 with Additions... any help appreciated. Thank you!

I guess this issue has not been resolved? I changed my post and the title to a lower price. The ad reads correct but the title did not accept the change and still shows the old asking price. Now I just want to delete the ad and move on but no option to delete the ad either.

Rules say place price in the title, but the title cannot be changed if the price changes.
For the interim (while we hope for a change) don't place a price in the title. I don't think the admins will harm you. Much.

The inability to change the title to SOLD is apparently still an issue. I'd also like to delete the images from within the ad for the privacy of buyer and seller. Frustrating!

It should be fixed now after 4 years of inactivity.
