Im taking a position out of state and have a 6 month academy to go to. Unfortunately, while it breaks my heart, I need to find a permanent home for my pups because ive exhausted all options on a temporary home while im gone. Id like to see them go to someone I know, but any house with a yard, loving family, and someone to give them attention will work. I really need them to go together as I have had both since birth and they have been together since Cooper was born, and Marley, the female, is dog aggressive, so they are best in a home that doesnt have any other animals, and someone who has experience with bully breed dogs. They LOVE children, infants, people of all ages, but they just want to be the only animals in the house and get all the attention.
Marley is a double purple ribbon Staffordshire Terrier (blue nose pit) and will be 8 years old in Sept. She is spayed, loves people and kids, very energetic for her age, in perfect health, loves to cuddle in bed or on the couch and loves walks. She can be difficult around other dogs, so she is best in a home with just Cooper, and I don’t want to chance a home with other animals at this time. She also does not do well in dog parks, so on her walks, I keep her away from other animals. Marley is very low maintenance, independent and other than attention, doesnt require much.
Cooper is a purple ribbon / AKC Staffordshire terrier (blue nose pit) and will be 4 years old in Sept. He is neutered, very energetic, loves all people and kids, also loves to cuddle, perfect health etc. He likes chew toys and specifically I have been giving him Pork Chomps pork skin bones, rolls, and other things that are edible... he doesnt seem to care for Kong toys or similar bones. Cooper loves attention and tends to want to follow you around the house and be next to you at all times if he can.
Cooper and Marley are indoor mostly dogs, and go outside to hang out, but have never been locked outside before. Both dogs free-feed (I just fill the bowls up every couple days, they only eat when hungry and dont gorge), they use a doggy door to potty outside, and tend to just pick one area to do their business. Neither chews, however I do buy Cooper a fair amount of bones to chew on and they keep him entertained. Neither have ever used a crate, and I would prefer a family that does not use them, and will allow them to use a doggy door. They are both pretty good on a leash and understand quite a few commands, however they are very energetic when the walks start, and both sit at about 70 lbs so they are VERY powerful and may take some getting used to if you have never had large breed dogs. They respond to commands just fine, but as alpha breeds, you do need to be in control of them.
Both are VERY protective of their family members, and both are smart enough to remember people ive introduced them to even years ago. They both tend to understand who belongs and who doesn't, and ive had repair guys leave my gate open before and neither left the house. Staffordshire Terriers are VERY intelligent and will quickly get attached to those in your household.
I will be including leashes, vests, collars (choke and shock collars as well, which I dont currently use), food, treats, toys, beds, and everything else I have amounted for them free of charge, and would like a financially stable family that can afford the quality of food I feed them, and good treats. These aren't dogs that get fed $8 specials from Walmart, they have a strict diet of Eagle Pack dry food, pork skin chew bones, with the only cheaper treat being the small milk bones. This stuff is all available from Amazon and I spend on average $100 a month between all their food, treats and toys, with a once in a while visit to Costco getting bully sticks, which they absolutely love. They do get human scraps and may beg until they learn not to as 99% of the time its only me here and I dont eat at the dinner table. I also unfortunately spoil them with sleeping in my bed and having free reign of the house, daily walks (about 1 mile) etc. Their beds are very nice and were quite expensive so they will use them if told to and often use them anyway as they are memory foam and stay cool.
Please feel free to email me with any questions, or if you know of a home that would like to meet my dogs! mikeoconnor444@gmail.com .
I am leaving July 15th, but will not be rehoming them without inspecting where you live and preferably having at least a week before I leave to make sure everything works out so I dont get a call while im 1800 miles away telling me it isnt going to work.
They are currently located in North Phoenix, AZ near 7th st and 101 if you would like to meet them!

Mike,

Have you tried posting this in the Nextdoor app? It has a lot of activity and people willing to help with advice and spread the word to assist in finding a home for your pups. I would steer clear from Craigslist though, which may draw the wrong type of people. If you don't use Nextdoor, just download the app and register. Beautiful dogs. Good luck!

I have not, I will have to check that out! I mostly posted on facebook groups and forums where I knew people/they knew me because I didn't want "first time owners" thinking my dogs are cute and a week into it dropping them off at a shelter. Im really trying to find a stable family and will be doing spot inspections before I let them go... I don't have kids so to me, these are basically all ive had the past 8 years, so im very picky where they end up.

I'm the same way with our dogs... currently have a pair of English Bulldogs, with a huge female that has Marley's temperment around other dogs.

Years ago, I went through the same thing with a pair of rottweilers when I went on an unexpected deployment. Broke my heart to have to rehome them and make sure they stayed together. Fortunately I found someone who agreed to foster them in a good environment for 7 months while I was deployed but it took me having to pay for the guy a few hundred $ a month. I did get them back through. Again, best of luck and hope the Nextdoor app is helpful.
