Need a black powder instructor

Hi. I've become very interested in the black powder community. After much research, I've purchased four muzzleloading firearms. I have a ccw and do know my way around conventional firearms. I want someone to teach me loading, safety, and shooting of black powder firearms. I'm willing to pay for lessons, and I'm retired so I can work the lessons schedule around your convenience.

There are lots of opportunities at Ben Avery Shooting Facility to meet up with black powder shooters. Arizona Cowboy Shooters Assn shoots the second Saturday of every month. There is a separate category for cap and ball pistols. http://wp.acsainc.com/

They are all super friendly, and you will quickly be surrounded with help. The best way to learn is to hook into a club and get out to shoot. Every black powder shooting club I've ever seen has welcomed new shooters with open arms. It's nothing like the tactical bunch.

I hope you have got started on the right path in the smoke pole discipline. I would be glad to help any way I can. Problem is I am way over in the east valley. But that is only a text or call away. I would be glad to answer any questions that you have. I’ve been shooting BP since the late 50s, cap & ball rifles and pistols. About 20 years ago I got into black powder cartridge rifles. That is a whole different science. Only in the last year or so I got the flintlock bug, I’ve recently acquired my first flinter but have not shot it yet. I hope you are already on your way, but I’m here just in case. The advice given in the above post is very good advice.

i am also retired so almost always around. I strongly feel a person should not have to pay to learn this discipline. All my black powder friends are back where I came from. Every one here is into the modern stuff. I have that also but would be nice to chat bp sometime.
