Ive been going back and forth with this build on barrels. It started with the 16 or 14.5 pinned and weld. I decided to go with the 16in barrel, now my question is. Do i do a carbine length gas system or a mid length gas system on a 16in barrel?

Carbine

Thank you I was leaning towards carbine
Make sure you do the enhanced bolt with it. The thing that kills x39 ARs are the magazines....have fun finding them and have more fun finding one that actually works lol

I've been reading a lot about a lot not working. I think that's why I'm building one I want the challenge. I've built 5.56/223 and 308 and 300 blk now I'm working on this project. Hoping to be able to make it run good in the end.
I'm gonna pick your brain again hope that's ok
I've read a lot and things still aren't cleared up would you think a adjustable gas block is better than a standard one? Also with the buffer do I need a heavy one or with the standard be good? Thanks for you input already I like when other chim in and I can get extra input.
Just use a standard carbine buffer. A standard gas block will most likely serve you just fine, but having an adjustable is always better because you can kind of fine tune it. A lot of setups wind up being over gassed to begin with (but still run). If you start off with an adjustable, you can kind of fine tune things to your liking.

Thank you!
