That is not a commercial model, just your run off the mill Norinco that someone removed the bayonet. And yes, you are asking way too much. The aftermarket stock and aftermarket mags hurt the value and even then, if it was all original with bayonet, you are still looking at a $300 firearm at most.
    You asked!

Besides your personal opinion, what evidence do you have for support? I am not claiming any extreme value, but I am also not going to give it away based upon an unsupported personal opinion.

Have you had your coffee yet this morning?

OK, here it is a week later and I find myself in the un-envious position of having to admit that I was wrong. It happens and I should be willing to put friends above self and admit it. I apologize for my response and I hope that mykdee will forgive me for my hubris

OK, I will preemptively apologize if you are offended. We disagree. That's ok.

    Good day!

In the first sentence of your original post, "Asking too much?" you asked so I responded...YES.

As for support with my "opinion" I am a gunsmith at a local shop that has specialized in WWII firearms for close to 30 yrs, so yeah....you are right, just my opinion.

Also the fact, that with a quick internet search you will see that I am correct. There are very few SKS's worth more than what I quoted on your rifle $300. You have just your everyday easy too find SKS, not trying to be rude, just educate people and keep them from over paying for a firearm.

Keeping prices in check is what keeps our hobby/sport going and enjoyable. If we overprice cheaper firearms, that drives the market up. If a run of the mill SKS's sell for $550+, whats that make a entry level AK worth...$1000?! Which is not the case, you can get new entry level AK's for $500, sometimes less!

You see where I am going with this. Once again not trying to be rude, BUT, you did ask!

    yes, your opinion

Whatever. I was going to respond in detail but realized there is no point. We disagree. You are looking for an argument. I am not. Sorry you are unhappy with the current trend in firearms prices.

Crap, I just realized I'm falling for your desire to argue.........

Like it or not, The estimate for 300 was a good one. If you check the actually sold listings on gunbroker, you will see that of 638 listings only 48% sold and the average price for a common used SKS with aftermarket poly stock is in the 200-350 range with a couple higher than that. Nicer ones in original condition with wood stock are only 300-450 and to get the real money, you have to have a scarce model or NIB collector grade. Tapco parts are not known for military quality.

Right now is not a good selling market for any guns. Prices are way down from a few years ago. A lot of guns are not worth what their owners paid or think they should be worth. In the end, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
